and the names of the speakers reported to me.

The result fully justified my spicions. Eight porsons
in all spoko, and every one of these eight, in defiance of
proclamtion, criticized my conduct of the enquiry and
advocated a boycott of the "Fatihan" and of Yessre Butler-
field and Swire'a stewmora generally. One speaker T'an Shao
Pu, one of the witnesses at the preliminary hoaring, ovon
went so far as to recommend that all passengers by the
"Fatshen" should have their ears cut off, in emilation of a
recent brutal act in "lungkung connected with the Japanose
boycott.
I enclose a list of the speakers for Y.E. information
in order that Y.E. may take such stops as you may down fit
to deal with them and prevent them from carrying their
disobedience to Y.E. own expreas orders to greater lengths.
